Goreme to Kaymakli travel can be planned by public transport, taxi or a guided visit. The key is to confirm the entire journey, including the last return. Göreme's municipal timetable covers its link with Nevşehir. It does not show the onward Kaymaklı service or a guaranteed connection.
Use the municipal table for the Göreme–Nevşehir leg, then obtain a current Kaymaklı departure and return from the actual operator. A taxi needs agreed waiting and return terms. A tour needs Kaymaklı named in writing, since an “underground city” stop could mean another site. No fixed journey time or current fare is shown here for the full trip.

Bus route, stops and changes
The Göreme municipality timetable is a primary source for the Göreme–Nevşehir service. It shows direction-named departures. Source checked October 2026. It should not be turned into an all-the-way Kaymaklı timetable by adding an assumed second leg.
Ask the relevant operator where the onward Kaymaklı service leaves from, whether a change of stop is needed and where it drops passengers. The Nevşehir urban bus service concerns local services; it does not prove a district minibus connection. Avoid using the names of two stops as evidence that the transfer between them is immediate.
Save the return details before boarding. If the onward bus is full or does not run as expected, know whether a taxi is a workable fallback. This guide has not checked a current full-route fare or final departure. Those are questions to resolve before travelling, not blanks to fill with an old blog schedule.
Taxi, car and guided options
For a taxi, ask whether the quote includes both directions and waiting at the museum. Agree how you will contact the driver when ready. If the return is a separate booking, confirm it before arrival. A low one-way quote is not a complete round-trip budget.
For a tour, read the route rather than rely on its colour or title. Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu are different sites. Ask whether a supplier can substitute the underground stop, and whether entry is included. A named stop with a clear allowance inside is more useful than a long list of possible places.

Arrival and parking
The museum record lists car parking as a facility. It does not provide a current parking price or a guaranteed space. Ask about the arrangement if it affects your plan. A listed facility is not a promise of places available at the time you arrive.
Leave room in the day for the ticket desk and the marked route. The two official museum records publish different closing times. Ask the venue which applies to your date, and confirm the final admission separately. Being near the town before closing is not the same as reaching the desk in time.
Last return and a Derinkuyu alternative
Build the return into the trip before you add more stops. An unconfirmed evening minibus should not carry the whole plan. If you want both underground cities, obtain the transfer between them as a separate journey. There is no public tunnel walk checked by the sources used here.
If your main goal is Derinkuyu, choose transport or a tour which names Derinkuyu. Do not use Kaymaklı as a silent substitute. If your priority is simply one well-planned underground visit, compare the current route and transport requirements at each site.
