- Verdict on the Kaymakli Underground City entrance fee
The Kaymakli Underground City entrance fee shown on the museum portal is €13 for non-Turkish visitors aged eight and above. That quote is for the named category, checked October 2026. Other visitor categories and pass terms need their own check. A tour price is a separate product and may not include museum entry.
Use the museum's category and currency together. The portal publishes €13 for non-Turkish visitors aged eight and above, while other categories have different rules. Its child-age wording overlaps at eight, so confirm that boundary with the venue. The official sources also disagree on hours. Check your category, pass and last admission before travelling.
Current Kaymakli Underground City entrance fee and currency
The Turkish Museums listing supplies the quoted fee. It names a non-Turkish visitor category aged eight and above and gives the price in euros. This is a public listed amount, not a price obtained from a tour seller. Facts checked October 2026.
Keep the currency visible when comparing another quote. A price in Turkish lira from an older account should not silently replace the euro category. Nor should a rough conversion be presented as the amount the museum will collect. This guide does not provide an exchange rate or claim a fixed converted price.
A current check date is useful, but it is not a guarantee for a later visit. Prices and categories can change. Open the venue record before travel and ask the museum if your category is unclear. A photo of an old ticket or a cached travel article is weaker evidence for a present budget.
The quoted entry is also different from a private guide fee. It does not show the cost of transport from Göreme, a driver's waiting time or a tour package. Keep those items separate in your budget. Otherwise, a cheap-looking tour may be compared with a museum ticket which supplies far less.
Passes and concession eligibility
The Ministry's main Kaymaklı page states that MüzeKart is valid for Turkish citizens. That is the precise programme statement used here. It should not be treated as a general foreign-visitor pass or a promise that every pass with a similar name is accepted.
The Turkish Museums portal advertises Museum Pass Cappadocia at €65 with a three-day period. It also says MuseumPass products are not valid for night-museum visits. These are the portal's published terms, checked October 2026. Confirm the exact product, included sites and period before purchase. Do not infer inclusion from a general regional name alone.
There is no need to buy a pass simply because you plan one underground visit. Start with the visits you will actually make, then check their inclusion and category prices. A pass can only be compared fairly with those named entries. A long list of possible museums is not the same as a route you have time to complete.
The portal lists child and concession categories, but some age ranges overlap. It gives free entry for non-Turkish children in a range labelled zero to eight, while its paid category starts at eight. This guide does not choose a rule for a visitor exactly at that boundary. Ask the venue how it applies the categories and what proof it requires.
Use the same approach for any other concession. Name the category and check the needed documents. Do not rely on a vague statement that “students go free”. The portal's student wording concerns specified museum-related subjects, rather than all people studying any course. Eligibility needs a category-named answer.
Opening, last entry and seasonal notices
The Ministry's main venue page gives 08:00–18:00, with the ticket desk closing at 17:15, every day. The Turkish Museums portal instead lists summer 08:00–19:00 with desk closure at 18:15, and winter 08:00–17:00 with desk closure at 16:15. The portal marks seasonal periods around April and October. Sources checked October 2026.
These records conflict. The official brochure also publishes seasonal hours, with a different October boundary. That is another reason to ask the museum for the schedule on your date. We do not treat the longest published day as a safe default.
Last ticket sales and final closing are different times. Reaching the car park near closing does not mean you can still enter. Nor does a ticket-desk cutoff promise that you can arrive at that moment and take as long as you wish below ground. Confirm admission and route timing separately.
If the plan includes another museum on the same day, resolve these times before arranging the transfer. A tight connection can depend on the earlier cutoff. Do not make a second visit rely on a seasonal table which conflicts with the current venue page. A simpler day may be more workable than two late entries.

Every record in this table was checked in October 2026. The check date shows when the source was consulted. It is not an effective date invented for the fee. Where the source does not give a future guarantee, this guide does not add one.
Buying entry versus joining a tour
Buying museum entry addresses admission to the site under its terms. Joining a tour can add a guide and transport, but the exact package matters. A seller may call a product an underground-city tour without naming Kaymaklı. If you want this museum, the booking record should name it.
Read the inclusion list separately from the headline. Look for museum entry, pickup and guiding as distinct items. If the summary says “all included” while the detailed list is unclear, ask for a written answer. Do not let a broad phrase decide who pays at the desk.
A guide's fee and the museum's entry price may use different units. One could be per group and the other per person. A vehicle quote could cover one direction while a package includes the return. To compare them, write down the unit and the items supplied. The total alone is not enough.
Use the choice guide to decide on Kaymaklı, Derinkuyu or both. Once you know the site and visit style, seek a quote which matches that choice. Name each entry and the full journey. There is no need to treat an unnamed product as a substitute for the museum you want. Keep the written answer with the quote.
Build a clear visit budget
Start with the entry category for each person. Record whether the number is a listed museum fee or an actual dated quote. Then add the transport arrangement. If the driver waits, include that basis. If the return is separate, include it as a separate line rather than assume it is covered.
Add guiding only if you are arranging it. Ask whether the price is per person, per group or part of a package. The same applies to any other included stop. Do not compare a route with several paid entries against one museum ticket as though they supply the same visit.
For a pass, list the museums you will visit and confirm their inclusion. Also check whether your plan fits its stated validity period. A pass can have a nominal period which begins according to a rule you need to understand. This guide does not invent an activation rule from the words “three days”.
Keep uncertain amounts separate. A fare which has not been checked is an open budget item, not zero. A concession which has not been accepted is not a discount yet. Writing those items clearly makes the final quote easier to assess and avoids a false total.
Budget worksheet
- Museum entry: category, currency, date checked and source.
- Pass, if relevant: exact name, inclusion and validity terms.
- Outbound ride: unit of charge and agreed destination.
- Waiting and return: included or separately priced.
- Guide: named service and charge basis.
- Other stops: each entry included or payable separately.
The worksheet uses no invented prices. It helps you collect the amounts which belong to your own plan. A total can then be made from checked items, with unconfirmed ones still visible. That is more useful than a single “average day cost” which hides the product differences.
Conditions to confirm before travelling
First, confirm the exact museum. Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu are separate sites with separate entry records. A general underground-city ticket or tour needs its destination stated. A price which belongs to one cannot be silently transferred to the other.
Second, confirm your visitor category and any pass. Bring the documents the venue asks for, rather than assume a concession from a travel article. At the age boundary noted above, obtain a direct answer. The published labels do not settle that case clearly enough for this guide to promise free entry.
Third, confirm hours and final admission. Keep the return journey in the same plan. A late entry can affect an onward or return ride even if the museum is still open. If you use public transport, obtain the full chain of departures rather than just the first municipal leg.
Fourth, ask about the present visitor route if its physical features affect your decision. Paying the fee does not answer whether the route meets your needs. The museum's account of four lit levels should not be turned into a promise about the brightness, width or ease of every passage today.
Corrections and source limits
The sources above are named official records. They do not all agree, and this page keeps the disagreement visible. A later update should compare the exact category and hours, rather than replace the whole table with one unchecked number. A museum answer with a date would be useful evidence for resolving the conflict.
The page does not quote ratings, claim to have bought a ticket or promise places available. It uses the public category price and a planning method. If a source changes, that may change the budget answer without changing the site's historical account. Keep those two updates apart.
When asking the venue about a concession, give the exact category which needs an answer. For the published age boundary, ask how the museum treats a visitor who is eight on the entry date and which document it wants to see. Do not send only a broad request for the price, since that may return the standard category without resolving your case.
Keep the answer with its date and the museum name. A concession accepted at another venue is not automatically accepted here under the same wording. If the answer changes the budget, update that one category rather than replace every person's fee with the same discounted amount. This preserves the difference between a public category list and the specific eligibility answer.
Ask the venue to identify the required proof as well as the category. This keeps the eligibility check practical.
Work out whether the pass fits your actual list
At the portal's checked fees, Kaymaklı alone costs €13 for the stated non-Turkish category aged eight and above. Adding Derinkuyu's separate €13 entry gives €26 for one visitor in that category. These are derived totals from the October 2026 fees, not bundled offers.
The advertised €65 Museum Pass Cappadocia should therefore be compared with your wider paid-visit list. Two underground-city entries alone do not reach its price. Other included museums may change the result, but only if you intend to enter them within the pass period. A stop outside a museum or a visit already included in a separate package does not create the same saving.
Keep transport out of that calculation unless the pass's actual terms include it. A museum pass and a hotel pickup are different services. If a tour includes your entry, ask whether using your own pass changes the tour price at all. Do not subtract the admission from a package yourself and assume that the supplier will honour that reduced amount.

Verdict on the Kaymakli Underground City entrance fee
Use the Kaymakli Underground City entrance fee of €13 only for the published non-Turkish category aged eight and above, checked October 2026. Confirm age boundaries and pass terms with the venue. Resolve the conflicting hours before travelling, and keep museum entry separate from transport and guiding.
